LABELS MATTER.

Food fraud and miscommunication are prevalent issues in the United States. Often, consumers lack education on the products they purchase, which can lead to misunderstandings. Additionally, many people are tempted by low prices and end up buying poor-quality items without checking the label.

At Due Sorelle, we work closely with manufacturers to ensure that every bottle contains exactly what it is supposed to, without any adulteration or fraud. Our producers take pride in their products and maintain their heritage and traditions.

Balsamic Vinegar is often misunderstood and it is important to understand what true balsamic is. First, look at the front of the bottle. If the label reads "Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena D.O.P." or "Aceto Balsamico di it is an authentic balsamic vinegar. Secondly, check the ingredients on the nutrition label of the bottle. If it contains "xanthan gum," "agar agar," or "caramel" flavor or coloring, it is an imitation product.

D.O.P.- Destination of Origin

The wine vinegar and grapes must be from Modena, Italy, and processed and packaged there; due to the limited grapes grown this will be more expensive.

I.G.P.- Protected Geographical Origin

A combination of wine vinegar and grape must from anywhere in the world, but must be processed and packed in Modena.

Condiment- any balsamic vinegar without I.G.P. or D.O.P. not made and/or packed and processed within Modena Italy.

Olive Oil Once you move beyond extra virgin or virgin olive oil, the labeling becomes inconsistent and other seed oils are often added, resulting in adulteration. Dievole's Chianti Classico Extra Virgin Olive Oil is labeled as Protected Designation of Origin, indicating that the olives used are grown and pressed in the Chianti region.

Classico- The olives are grown and pressed within a specific region, often with traditional production methods.
