How to use Saffron Threads:

A little bit goes a long way:

Saffron is the most expensive food item ounce for ounce. The expensive price tag on saffron is due to there only being three threads per flower and each thread plucked by hand with tweezers. Saffron threads are full of honey and floral notes as well as a bright yellow pigment.

For the best results, use a mortar and pestle to grind the threads into a powder. The saffron powder can also be lightly toasted in oil over low heat to infuse the flavor into the food being cooked. The threads can also be steeped in hot water or milk, allow to bloom for five minutes for full extraction of flavor and color.

Saffron is used in dishes internationally, such as:

biryani, paella, Milanese risotto, saffron butter sauce, St. Lucia Buns, Persian pudding, and many more.
